Even with such an extensive and accomplished resume of achievements and public service, Tata has launched yet another successful career. Tata is truly an impressive American figure, who was born in a fabled American state: Virginia.

Anthony Tata’s native United States birthplace of Norfolk, Virginia is officially known as the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Old Dominion nickname of Virginia derives from its unique position of being the first colonial settlement of Britain in the New World. Virginia is also known as the Mother of Presidents, distinguished for having eight United States Presidents who have called Virginia their native state. Great Britain established the first permanent New World English colony, the Colony of Virginia, in this Mid-Atlantic North American coastal region in 1607, where the Powhatan Native Americans had lived, fished and hunted for millennia. The Virginia General Assembly of this original of the 13 colonies in the New World, is the oldest continuous governmental body in North America, and is regularly ranked among the top most effective law-making bodies in the United States by the Pew Center. The economy of Virginia changed from an agricultural base to industrial in the 1970’s, and today has many facets: agriculture in the Shenandoah Valley, federal agencies in the north including the Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency, and military facilities in the main seaport of the state, Hampton Roads.

Anthony Tata grew up in the idyllic climate of Virginia in the United States, where bright blue skies and the greens and blues of earth and sky owe their clarity to the interplay of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chesapeake Bay, which nurtures the deciduous and evergreen trees which give the area its unique color palette. Bordered by Maryland, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia and the Atlantic Ocean, Virginia was much larger before the Civil War, when the northwestern counties of the Colony seceded and formed West Virginia when Virginia joined the Confederacy. Tata lives not far from his native Virginia today, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
